‘Pausania’ lamp by E. Sottsass for Artemide, 1982

The iconic ‘Pausania’ desk lamp, designed in 1982 by Ettore Sottsass for Artemide, Italy. Sottsass was one of the founders of the Memphis Group. This movement is the only recognized style of Decorative Arts after 1945. Remarkable are the influence of architecture and the unusual mix of materials and colours. Besides his work for the Memphis Group Sottsass was from ca 1947 on very productive as an industrial designer. He died in 2007 but his Studio still exists.
